We All Bloom Differently in Our Own Time
<figure><p><img src="https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1024/1*1aGAT2Q-Sx5HNl6RXOLPqg.jpeg" class="size_orig justify_inline border_" alt="" /></p></figure><p>🌻 We all bloom differently in our own time.</p><p>Wildflowers come in all shapes and sizes, and no two look exactly alike.</p><p>Some are bold and colorful, while some are small and dainty.</p><p>But each bloom is incredibly beautiful!</p><p>I went on a silent retreat recently and got to pick some gorgeous flowers in the fields.</p><p>It all made me think of the Bible verse from Luke 12.</p><p>If God cares SO MUCH for the flowers, how much GREATER does He care for us?</p><p><strong>“Look at the lilies and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?” (Luke 12:27–28)</strong></p><p>There’s a lot going on in the world today.</p><p>But take comfort that if God notices and cares for the tiniest wildflower blooms, surely He cares for you.</p><p>You aren’t going unnoticed. You aren’t going unseen.</p><p>The Father sees you. He loves you. How LadyBossBlogger Helped Me Discover the Power of Pinterest and SEO to Drive Traffic to My Christian Blog

<p>The more you optimize the SEO for your specific niche, the more you can drive targeted customers and readers to your blog.</p>
<p><strong>SEO has been a TOTAL GAME CHANGER for my business.</strong></p>
<p>I have a blog post of mine where the SEO on my post helped me to rank on the top page of Google for certain keyword searches.</p>
<p>This has been a powerful tool in several ways:</p>
<p>1. It has increased the traffic to my website and the number of my blog readers (all over the world).</p>
<p>2. A percentage of those blog readers are joining my Facebook Group every week.</p>
<p>3. Some of my readers are also converting into mailing list members. (Email is by far the most powerful way to communicate with and sell to your audience.)</p>
<p>So I know firsthand that if you can master SEO, it has the potential to be life-changing for your business.</p>

Anthem Threads™: The Message Behind the Song on the Dress

<p>I wanted to share with you why I chose the song lyrics that go on this dress.</p>
<p>First off, your Anthem Threads™ dress is REVERSIBLE, which means you can wear it front or back. Each side gives you a different look and has a unique message on it.</p>
<p>One side says, “Don’t tell me who to be.” The second side says, “I can only be me.”</p>
<p>These song lyrics come from an upcoming single of mine called “You Can’t Stop Me”. (I am psyched about it! More on that later!)</p>
<p>It’s time to let go of everyone else’s opinions of you and start trusting yourself again.</p>

Why I Named My Brand Anthem Threads™

<p>In the midst of designing and manufacturing the dress I’ve been working on with Schnee Way, we had to come up with a name for our brand.</p>
<p>It’s kind of like naming a child, ’cause your business is basically your baby, haha!</p>
<p>You try to think of anything and everything, but nothing seems to feel good enough.</p>
<p>Serious props to <a href="http://twitter.com/schneewayofficial">@schneewayofficial</a> because she came up with the winning name… Anthem Threads™.</p>
<p>Why is it called that? I’m glad you asked!</p>
<p>Anthem Threads™ is a statement reversible dress that has song lyrics (from a secret new song of mine) to empower you to step into your song and share your message with the world.</p>
<p>No one can stop you from being who you were meant to be.</p>

Only One Thing is Needed | Lessons from Mary and Martha

<p>“Only one thing is needed.”</p>
<p>These are the words Jesus told Martha after she had expressed her frustrations to Him.</p>
<p>Martha had opened her home to Jesus and his disciples as they arrived in the village of Bethany.</p>
<p>She was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made.</p>
<p>It sounds to me like Martha was a list person.</p>
<p>There was probably a long checklist of things that needed accomplished yet, and she was in over her head. She felt like her sister Mary had left her to do all the work herself.</p>
<p>While Martha was worried and upset, Mary was sitting at the feet of Jesus, just listening.</p>
<p>Martha was so lost in the details that she lost sight of what was greater.</p>

<p>We can become so busy serving Jesus that we forget to simply just be in His presence.</p>
<p>I am probably the most guilty person of this.</p>
<p>Being still is something that’s often hard for me. It feels foreign and it’s rare to not find me in the middle of some project or activity to keep me busy.</p>
<p>Serving God is so important, but so is spending time with Him and spending time in His Word.</p>
<p>A well cannot give water to others if it has become dry itself.</p>

But first… | The Cost of Discipleship

<p>But first…</p>
<p>Those were the words that jumped at me as I read from a Bible passage in Luke chapter 9.</p>
<p>It tells us the story of Jesus calling out to some men instructing them to “follow Him”.</p>
<p>Each one, when asked to follow Jesus, had a similar response.</p>
<p>“But first…”</p>
<p>They would follow Christ, but ONLY after they tended to whatever they deemed to be more important at the moment.</p>

Why Community is EVERYTHING

<p>The dress I’m designing is underway! I may or may not have seen a sneak preview during a zoom call recently. 😉</p>
<p>It’s so cool to see something drawn on paper, or an iPad in my case, be brought to life like this. (Thanks for tag-teaming the sketch with me mom!)</p>
<p>Thinking back over the last couple months, there’s a few things that have stuck out in my mind…</p>
<p>1️⃣ I definitely DON’T draw.</p>
<p>2️⃣ I haven’t sewn anything since middle school, and I most definitely DON’T remember how.</p>
<p>3️⃣ I definitely did NOT go about this journey all by myself.</p>
<p>You see, my job isn’t learning how to make a perfect fashion sketch.</p>
<p>My job isn’t learning how to sew and piece this dress together.</p>
<p>The truth is, there is no possible way I would ever be able to do this project by myself. There are SO many people behind the scenes who are using their individual gifts and skills to make all of this happen.</p>
<p>My job is simply communicating ideas and casting vision to make this project come to life. And that happens by finding the right people to come alongside you and support you along the journey.</p>

<p>Learning to Pause and Listen</p>
<p>Don’t ever feel guilty for taking the time you need to rest and step back for a time. Burn out is real, and you DON’T have to say yes to everything.</p>
<p>In those moments of quietness, rest in the Lord and ask Him what direction He wants you to go.</p>
<p>Far too many times, we go, go, go and don’t take the time to PAUSE and LISTEN. (Trust me — I am totally speaking to myself right now!)</p>
<p>In this season of craziness and uncertainty, may we learn to listen to what the Lord has planned for us, and the boldness to follow where He leads.</p>

<p>👉 The first time I posted that YouTube video, I WAS NOT READY FOR IT.</p>
<p>But guess what?</p>
<p>You will never be “ready” for it. 🤯</p>
<p>If you wait to start until you feel 100% ready for it, you might be waiting a long time. ⏱</p>
<p>💚 Do yourself a favor today and just start whatever it is you’ve been wanting to do.</p>
<p>Give yourself permission to do it.</p>
<p>It doesn’t have to be perfect.</p>
<p>You don’t even have to have it all together.<br><br>✨ It’s so much better to at least be imperfectly in the game than waiting at the sidelines of your dreams.</p>

8 Year Anniversary of “Dance in the Rain”

<p>Wow wow wow. I can hardly believe that December 5th was 8 𝙬𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙚 𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙨 since I released my first studio album.</p>
<p>I was so thrilled to have my first song air on the radio on the Kids Cookie Break show.</p>
<p>The first time it aired, my family and I were on our way to vacation in Ocean City.</p>
<p>When we started driving out of the radio station’s range, we pulled the car over and found a spot where we could still hear the show.</p>
<p>We waited there and listened to all the songs play on the radio, including my song “Expectations” that I wrote when I was 14 years old.</p>
<p>There are so many fun surprises in life and that was a really cool moment for me as I was only at the start of my music journey.</p>

Self Care: It Means “Me Too”

From Songwriter to Fashion Designer

The Real Reason I Write Music…
<p>Writing songs is a lot like journaling… just with music. 🎵 I remember when I wrote my first song at 11 years old. (Wow that was a long time ago lol!)</p>
<p>At that young age, I didn’t realize how much guilt I was carrying around. Both my siblings were dealing with severe medical issues, so they needed a lot more attention. People constantly compared us all.</p>
<p>I was the “healthy kid” because I didn’t have genetic disorders and allergies to everything.</p>
<p>“Wow, you’re lucky.”</p>
<p>“So you’re the normal one.”</p>
<p>My sister weighed an unhealthy 65 pounds as a teen until she was properly diagnosed and treated. People said I was “big” compared to her, even though I was at a perfectly healthy and normal weight.</p>
<p>After years of hearing the same things over and over from everybody, I had so many unprocessed emotions that had to be addressed.</p>
<p>When my parents bought me my first keyboard, I just loved that thing to pieces! (Shout out to my favorite keyboard brand <a href="http://twitter.com/casio_us">@casio_us</a> for being awesome!)</p>
<p>I stayed up in my bedroom for HOURS and HOURS just writing about life and what I was feeling. In fact, I didn’t realize the half of what I was really feeling until I could write it on paper and understand where I was at emotionally.</p>

<p>Certain songs that I write feel so transparent and personal that it almost feels like I’m posting a diary entry. And sometimes that can feel scary.</p>
<p>But I realized that there’s always someone out there that needs to hear the message and the story that you have to offer. Someone out there gets it.</p>
<p>I’ve found that being transparent helps you to realize that you are never alone. It brings clarity to exactly what you are feeling and how you can heal from past hurts.</p>
<p>I think that’s what I love most about writing music. For me, it starts the conversation on dealing with hurt, overcoming it, and reaching out to those around you who are still working through those tough emotions.</p>
<p>That’s the reason I write. I want people to see that in the middle of every struggle, no matter how big or small, God sees you. He loves you. He is waiting for you with arms wide open.</p>

<p>Or worse — you recognize the fact, but choose to ignore it completely.</p>
<p>Sometimes instead of pausing and taking time to refresh, we only run faster and push ourselves harder, thinking the stress will go away on its own.</p>
<p>If you feel like you’re living in a constant state of stress and overwhelm, maybe it’s time to evaluate the things that take up the most time and energy in your life.</p>
<p>“It’s okay to say NO. You’re saying YES to SOMETHING ELSE.”</p>
<p>This is literally my mantra ALL. THE. TIME.</p>
<p>Please never underestimate the time you need to slow down and rest in the Lord.</p>
<p>There are times I have been guilty of feeling “too busy” to make that time for myself, but when I do….</p>
<p>It makes a whole world of difference.</p>
<p>Slow things down for a minute and focus on the people and things that really matter most.</p>

Making time for self care (even when you feel too busy)

Everything feels like a priority EXCEPT you. Making time for self care (even when you feel too busy)

Everything feels like a priority EXCEPT you. I’m the kind of person that’s always looking ahead to the next thing, like 2020! But I wanted to take a moment to look back on all of the wonderful things that happened over the last 12 months.</p><p>In January, I started my job as the worship leader at my church. It’s been one of my dreams to end up in a ministry position like this, especially one that involves music! I love serving Christ in this way.</p><p>In February, Mom and I got to take the most amazing trip to Nashville, TN. (And it was just the two of us!) As a singer/songwriter, I had been dying to go for foreverrrrrrrr…. So when our business conference was in Nashville, we were definitely going to go.</p><figure><img src="https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/500/1*ytyFigHwiG2oXM1Rk6nsCw@2x.jpeg" class="size_orig justify_inline border_" alt="" /></figure><p>We learned SO much at the conference. Entrepreneurship is so awesome, and my mom and I have met so many amazing people who are doing the same thing we are. I never thought I would love business so much, but it’s quickly become a huge area of interest for me this year. We’re still learning a lot, but I’m loving the journey.</p><p>I actually quit my part-time job a few months ago so I could focus on my position at church, my own music career, and helping my mom with her business, schneeway.com</p><p>Speaking of music, I’ve been spending some of my days in the studio this year! It’s so fun to watch all of these songs come together. I literally cannot wait until this releases! This record is so different from my first, and I am so in love with all of its jazziness!</p><figure><img src="https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/360/1*XNCOc2fcEqVYIuxWBo4SXA@2x.jpeg" class="size_orig justify_inline border_" alt="" /></figure><p>And of course, this year would not be complete without talking about the wedding!!! I LOVE being Josh’s wife! We got engaged on Christmas Eve in 2017, so it had been a long wait. (Although the days really do fly by in the end!)</p><p>It amazes me how many details go into planning a wedding. It’s fun, stressful, and highly emotional at times, but it all makes for priceless memories. BEST. DAY. EVER.</p><p>It’s awesome to walk down the aisle surrounded by everyone you love, to go get married to the man you love. So much love, haha!</p><p>Once we were married, I thought it would be a huge adjustment to not live at home anymore. It surprised me how natural married life felt right away.</p><p>Josh and I share lots of laughs, and I’m so glad we get to spend everyday together. It’s hard to believe we’ve been married over six months now. Kindness is a choice. Will you choose it?

Make every effort to keep yourselves <strong>united in the Spirit</strong>, binding yourselves together with <strong>peace</strong>.” Ephesians 4:2–3 NLT</blockquote><p>You can hear nothing but <strong>encouragement</strong>, yet it is the <em>harsh words</em> that replay over and over in your head.</p><p>You can receive nothing but <strong>affirmation</strong>, and still <em>doubt</em>.</p><p>You can feel <strong>uplifted by many</strong>, and quickly <em>pulled down by one</em>.</p><p>Words: They are powerful. They have the power to uplift someone or tear them down. The sad thing is, with as powerful as our words are, we use them quickly and rashly, and sometimes without much forethought.</p><p>We live in a <strong>reactive culture</strong>. If something upsets us, we must make our voice known. If we disagree, we start a Facebook comment war. We passionately fight battles hiding behind screens, while seemingly, making no real change at all.</p><p>We are constantly reacting to what life throws at us. Maybe we can <strong>live</strong> <strong>intentionally</strong> instead of <em>reactively</em>.</p><p>Maybe someone is hurting and needs to hear an encouraging word today. Let’s be quicker to encourage and faster to love. The world has enough negativity; We don’t need it from each other.</p><blockquote>“Your kindness will reward you, but your cruelty will destroy you.” Proverbs 11:17 NLT</blockquote><p><strong>Let’s start the conversation. </strong>What are some great ways to encourage one another?</p><p>Today, I intentionally choose… to be kind.</p><p>Today, I intentionally choose… to make a difference.</p><p>Today, I intentionally choose… to build someone up.</p><p>Today, I intentionally choose… to not let my emotions dictate my response.</p><p>Today, I intentionally choose… to show grace to someone who doesn’t deserve it.</p><p>Grab a coffee together. Send that encouragement note. Make that phone call. <strong>Whatever it is… go do it!</strong></p><p>We are the light in a dark and broken world, and the more we reflect our Savior, the brighter that light shines.</p><p>When you extend grace where it is undeserved… your light shines.</p><p>When you love someone who is difficult to love… your light shines.</p><p>When you are kind to someone you disagree with… your light shines.</p><p><strong>And when your light shines… people can’t help but notice it.</strong></p><blockquote>“Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.” — Mark Twain</blockquote><blockquote>“For <strong>God chose to save us</strong> through our Lord Jesus Christ, <strong>not to pour out his anger on us</strong>. Everyday Can Be a Growth Experience if We Let it Be

When I first started writing music, I had no idea the amount of public speaking that would soon be needed to perform onstage. 🎤 Not only do you have to practice your songs and perform them well, but you also have to engage your audience and take them on that journey with you.<br><br>(In case you didn’t know…public speaking used to make me really nervous.) 😳<br><br>I remember some of my first shows where I downright STRUGGLED through it.<br><br>😱 Lots of “ums”<br><br>😱 Lots of run-on sentences<br><br>😱 Lots of continuous talking until I simply had to take a breath<br><br>That’s right. Sometimes when you speak, you literally HAVE to remind yourself that you also need to breathe. Who knew? 🤯<br><br>My mom gave me the best advice I needed to hear at the time…. “Finish one sentence and thought before you start another one.”<br><br>I was literally so worried about the point I was trying to get across or how to word it that I was 10 steps ahead of myself. It was “squirrel brain” times 10! 🐿 <br><br>Now there’s like a ton of ways you can improve your public speaking, but that’s not what I’m here to talk about. The point is that I did it anyway. I did it AFRAID. To get to that next level, you have to be willing to push through your fears.<br><br>As a perfectionist, I know firsthand that it’s hard to jump into something that you don’t feel accomplished at. I want to do things right the first time, believe me.<br><br>Sometimes you have to be REALLY BAD at something before you can be EXCELLENT. It’s through the mistakes and falling down that we learn how to get back up and crush it. 💪<br><br>I’ve been performing for over 7 years now, and writing music for 12 years. I am so thankful for all those times that I messed up or wasn’t perfect, because it taught me…<br><br>✅ How to be BETTER<br><br>✅ How to not be so hard on myself because I made a MISTAKE<br><br>✅ How to turn an epic FAIL into an epic WIN<br><br>To this day, before I get on stage, I mentally remind myself to finish my thought before I worry about the next one. Am I a perfect public speaker? Heck no! 😆 But I am super glad I didn’t let that stop me.<br><br>I can look back and laugh at how far my speaking has come. 😅 I can watch my oldest YouTube videos and cringe a little because I didn’t have the best camera 📸 and didn’t know how to record decent audio 🎙 and set up the best shot. 🎥<br><br>But guys… ➡️ If I WAITED to start until I knew how to do all those things, I NEVER would have STARTED. Just start. When I was 16, I started doing shows anywhere that would have me. 🎹 I recorded my first studio album 💿, and there ended up being a lot more BUSINESS in music business than I ever realized. 💼 The thought of having to market myself, create email lists, basically anything that wasn’t music related, was just plain stressful to me. 😳<br><br>’Cause when you first start out, you think that if you throw some good videos online, someone big is magically going to find it and call you up. 🤩<br><br>Apparently that’s not how music business works… usually. 😋<br><br>It takes a LOT of hard work, behind-the-scenes hustle to make a thriving business. You fail a lot. You learn from it. You get back out there and try again. You fail more. You adjust what you do.<br><br>A career in business is like an ever-changing, ever-learning experience. I used to loathe it entirely, but the funny thing is now I am totally OBSESSED with it! 😍<br><br>If we step outside of our comfort zones, amazing things can happen. We mess up sometimes, but we grow from it. We might not know what to do right away, but we learn.<br><br>If you always play it safe, you will always have “safe results”. Be Stronger Than Your Excuses
<figure><img src="https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1000/1*hptUaUI20jE7idDtAff8mg.png" class="size_orig justify_inline border_" alt="" /></figure><p>Can we agree that there’s always an excuse not to do something we know is crucial for our growth and well-being?<br><br>▪️ I don’t feel like it… maybe tomorrow.<br><br>▪️ I don’t want to.<br><br>▪️ It’s too hard.<br><br>▪️ I’m not good enough.<br><br>▪️ That will take too much effort.<br><br>▪️ What if it doesn’t work?<br><br>Literally this list could go on and on forever…. sound familiar?<br><br>In Exodus 3 & 4, God told Moses he wanted to use him to free the Israelites that were being enslaved and oppressed in Egypt.<br><br>That wasn’t something that Moses wanted to do.<br><br>He had his own list of excuses as to why he wasn’t the right man for the job…<br><br>▪️ “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh?”<br><br>▪️ “Who shall I say sent me?”<br><br>▪️ “What if they don’t believe me?”<br><br>▪️ “What if they don’t listen to what I have to say?”<br><br>▪️ “I am not an eloquent speaker.”<br><br>For every excuse and concern that Moses had, God gave an answer, telling Moses that He himself would be with him. This literally resulted in Moses saying, “Oh, my Lord, please send someone else.” (Exodus 4:13)<br><br>We all know the great things Moses went on to do. He DID go to Egypt and was used by God to FREE the Israelites. It’s one of the greatest and most well-known biblical events!<br><br>Maybe God wants to use you right where you are. Maybe there’s something you know you should be doing, but have been struggling to even try.<br><br>Do yourself a favor and be stronger 💪 than your excuses. Your wheels are spinning, so you only hustle harder.<br><br>TRUTH BOMB 💣: Hustling harder doesn’t automatically get you to where you’re trying to go.<br><br>Sure, there are times when you just gotta give it your best and not hold anything back. An Invention With 1,000 Steps

It makes you want to throw in the towel, call it quits, and let the dream go.<br><br>I love it when others look at “successful people”, and think that they’ve got it all together. That they somehow stumbled upon success with little to no effort. ?<br><br>Wanna know a ? BIG SECRET? ?<br><br>When we see the START of someone’s career in the public eye, that person has been working towards it for longer than you would know. It is merely the continuation of their journey. Leveling up so to speak.<br><br>When you start your journey, you always start at square 1. Not everyone is there with you to see that. ?<br><br>They’re not there to see…<br><br>? The time you FAILED really bad<br><br>? The time you QUESTIONED if this was what you were meant to do<br><br>? The time you almost GAVE UP<br><br>So ? don’t beat yourself because you’re not perfect. Cause guess what? ? Nobody is.<br><br>Edison made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb. ? When a reporter asked, “How did it feel to fail 1,000 times?” Edison replied, “I didn’t fail 1,000 times. Saying NO to say YES to something else

<p>✅ Swamped.<br><br>✅ Overwhelmed.<br><br>✅ Stressed.<br><br>✅ Worn out.<br><br>How many times do we push ourselves to the edge?? ?<br><br>I’m one of the people that wants to do it all. Be involved in everything. (And I mean everything! ?)<br><br>If I see an opportunity that I think would be good for me, I jump at it. I keep piling it all on into a lovely mess of a stack. ?<br><br>➡️ BUT HERE’S THE THING: It’s too much. ⬅️<br><br>In my attempt to do good things, it didn’t leave a good result. ? I wasn’t productive. ? I wasn’t well rested (which is pretty important by the way).</p>
<p>? I didn’t feel accomplished — I FELT EXHAUSTED. ?<br><br>Then I realized something. There are some things in my life that I have to be okay with giving up. Let me put it this way instead… when you say no to something, you’re saying ⭐️ YES TO SOMETHING ELSE. ⭐️</p>

<p>I got to see the Studio C cast! (I didn’t know they would be there!)</p><p><strong>Nashville Day 7:</strong></p><p>It was our third day at FHL 2019. On the main stage, they started to announce that Click Funnels was collaborating with JK Studios (the new project by the original cast members of Studio C). I thought that in itself was amazing. When we came back after lunch, we were told we’d get to view one of the newest sketches made especially for entrepreneurs.</p><p>Well, get this guys…. We’re back from lunch, getting ready to view the amazingness that is JK Studios, when none other but Matt Meese and Stacey Harkey walk onto the stage…. <em>like in real life!!!</em></p><p>I. Freaked. Out.</p><figure><img src="https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1024/1*zxLzqbSqCYsHLZy_jDhalw.jpeg" class="size_orig justify_inline border_" alt="" /></figure><p>I’m a huge Studio C fan. It’s like SNL but clean and family friendly. Like the good old days of watching <em>The Carol Burnett Show</em>. (Why can’t you buy that anywhere online? Because that is SO funny too!)</p><p>So, they’re on stage talking about their new venture as JK Studios, when they let us preview a sketch that had not been aired yet at this point. If you watch them on YouTube at all, you know that they just released a new series called Freelancers, which is sponsored by Click Funnels. We were the first to see one of these episodes!!!</p><figure><img src="https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1024/1*Y69pAtdXqQqyc1p8lbDdJQ.jpeg" class="size_orig justify_inline border_" alt="" /></figure><p>I was more excited than anyone else in that room. (At least I think so!) Hahaha! ?? I totally love watching these guys, and it made my day to get to see them in person. Just saying. It was so awesome to meet Alison Prince in person. Mom and I have been learning from her for about a year now and she is totally the real deal! I can’t say enough good things about her! Thanks to all we have learned, we just had the grand opening of <em>Schnee Way</em>, selling women’s clothing and accessories.</p><figure><img src="https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1024/1*qOg2_UEbarIS01UqHtzPfw.jpeg" class="size_orig justify_inline border_" alt="" /></figure><p>? BOOM! ? I got my photo I was dying to get with Stephen Larsen! ? It was one of the few things that was legit on my checklist. ✅ When we took the photo, I told him that he was hilarious. Haha! This guy is a genius.</p><figure><img src="https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1024/1*AyAXIJpFMySrLByxB8QLrg.jpeg" class="size_orig justify_inline border_" alt="" /></figure><p>The man, the legend…. Russell Brunson! I didn’t actually get to meet him, but I did walk right past him in the halls once. Haha! This guy is so incredibly smart and it was awesome getting to learn from the very best. This week was really just a big dream come true.</p><figure><img src="https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1000/1*g99l3NjTRW81zz4SPqjynA.png" class="size_orig justify_inline border_" alt="" /></figure><p>One of the evenings, they held the round table sessions. There were tons of successful entrepreneurs at different tables, answering questions and helping all sorts of people at every level. This was so neat to see. I think that is entrepreneurship at its core — <em>serving others.</em></p><p>Surround yourself with greatness. The start of the highly anticipated business event of the year — Funnel Hacking Live! There was just a crazy amount of good stuff packed into a single day, and we had several days to go yet at this point. I learned so much from these people. I just soaked it all in like a sponge!!</p><blockquote>“Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.” — Earl Nightingale</blockquote><figure><img src="https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1024/1*mSyFmD8q5J96SgKfeKYv3Q.png" class="size_orig justify_inline border_" alt="" /></figure><p>Also got to meet some <em>amazing</em> people along the way! I think it’s so fun to make new friends with people who have the same passions as you.</p><figure><img src="https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1024/1*sAhICh8JdJ83UtMWNtxlHw.jpeg" class="size_orig justify_inline border_" alt="" /></figure><p>At the close of our first day, they surprised the 4,500+ audience with a special guest. They brought Tim Ballard to the stage, the founder and CEO of Operation Underground Railroad. He, along with many other CIA, Navy SEALs, and Special Ops operatives assist in freeing children from sex trafficking around the world.</p><blockquote>In the past five years of existence, O.U.R. has rescued 1,969 victims and assisted in the arrests of more than 1,109 traffickers around the world.</blockquote><figure><img src="https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1024/1*8kzEY58_D1QpZqSDC7UWFA.jpeg" class="size_orig justify_inline border_" alt="" /></figure><p>A documentary was filmed of how these men planned and executed a massive rescue mission. They had secret cameras attached to them as they went incognito. This documentary had never been aired before, and we were the first to see it live.</p><p>What was so amazing to see, is that these very men who saved these young girls were in that same room as us, watching this footage for the <em>first time. </em>I can’t imagine what it must have been like for them to see that.</p><p>The story, the footage… it was real. It was incredible to see how they work and how they not only rescue these kids, but work to rehabilitate them and give them hope.</p><img src="https://medium.com/_/stat?event=post.clientViewed&referrerSource=full_rss&postId=a379aacc83d" class="size_orig justify_inline border_" height="1" width="1" />

Exploring the Gaylord Opryland Hotel

We woke up to day number 4, packed our things, and headed off to our next hotel… The Gaylord Opryland. We were staying there a few nights for the business conference we were attending. As our Uber ride pulled up into the parking lot, I was amazed at the sight! It was the most grand hotel I had ever seen! ?</p><figure><img src="https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1024/1*QbgnPPZ25mxCUXnvZlZFYA.jpeg" class="size_orig justify_inline border_" alt="" /></figure><p>You could really get lost in this building. I did a couple times! In fact, it’s so huge, we had to download a navigation app to guide us through the building. How crazy is that? ? But I’m directionally challenged, so who knows. ?</p><figure><img src="https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1024/1*co2myfh575KruRqIHwCkEw.jpeg" class="size_orig justify_inline border_" alt="" /></figure><p>Once we made our way to the Delta Island, we found that they had a little boat ride that takes you around part of the hotel. It was pretty ridiculous but made for a funny memory! Even found one of the best entrepreneurs along the way… #RussellPhotoBomb</p><p>(But for reals… we really did walk right by him haha!)</p><figure><img src="https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1024/1*e4bw-UxTpg-uyNk-DsAjUg.jpeg" class="size_orig justify_inline border_" alt="" /></figure><p>After a long day of exploring, we made our way to our hotel room. They had one of those beds that fold up into the wall — I thought it was super cool!! I Got to Perform at The Bluebird Cafe!
<p><strong>Nashville Day 3:</strong></p><p>I had my eye on this venue for a while… the renowned Bluebird Cafe! Taylor Swift was discovered there when she was first starting out. Other greats have taken the stage and it’s been on my bucket list for the longest time to sing there too.</p><blockquote>“Over 70,000 people visit the venue annually, many of them as a result of seeing The Bluebird on television or reading about the club in publications such as Southwest Spirit, National Geographic Traveler, The New York Times or hearing it mentioned by the artists such as Garth Brooks, Taylor Swift and Keith Urban, Kathy Mattea, Trisha Yearwood, Kim Richey, Dierks Bentley, Faith Hill and Vince Gill, all of whom have had career moments over the past 31 years at the tiny, legendary club.” — bluebirdcafe.com</blockquote><p>Monday evenings they have an open mic, but it’s not easy to get into. All music has to be original, and only the first 25 songwriters to call in at 11:00am get to play. The moment it hit 11:00am satellite time, Mom and I were both trying to call in to no avail. *Call. Busy signal. Call. Busy signal.* I was starting to think I didn’t make it in, but mom told me to not give up and keep trying. “You have to be persistent” she said.</p><p>After 248 phone calls and 13 minutes of thinking I didn’t make it through, the craziest thing happened… I was #12 on the list to sing at The Bluebird Cafe! As soon as I hung up the phone, I squealed with excitement and immediately started getting ready for the big night.</p><figure><img src="https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1024/1*qAr66C0ZdsOTBoYyTM229g.jpeg" class="size_orig justify_inline border_" alt="" /></figure><p>My inner perfectionist was begging me to practice before the show, but what do you do when you’re 753 miles away from home? Suddenly it dawned on me! “Where’s the closest Guitar Center? It’s Nashville, there has to be one.”</p><figure><img src="https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1024/1*5GnGUsOPdAl6Li03mIpE9Q.jpeg" class="size_orig justify_inline border_" alt="" /></figure><p>And there was one! About 5 miles away to be exact. So we grabbed an Uber and went to the local Guitar Center. It made my jaw drop as we walked through the doors. It’s so much larger than our store at home! And the very best part of all is that I got to practice on one of my dream keyboards… a Nord Stage 3 Full-Length Piano. (Ahhhhh!) My heart was happy! ? ?</p><figure><img src="https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1024/1*a5aV7xkqmyN7tPYa3BRaDA.jpeg" class="size_orig justify_inline border_" alt="" /></figure><p>The time finally came to line up outside the legendary cafe. I knew it was tiny from what I had been told, but wow, it’s <em>tiny</em>! People stand outside the doors for hours just to get a chance to go in and listen. I got to meet some amazing people and hear their stories and songs. I think it’s so fun to see people from all walks of life come together because of a mutual passion of music.</p><figure><img src="https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1024/1*9eBRjnMVmJyL5f3xo1q11A.jpeg" class="size_orig justify_inline border_" alt="" /></figure><p>So there I was up on stage singing my next single set to come out soon, “I Left My Heart in May”. I’ll tell you what — it was so exhilarating! It got to the very end of the night, and Barbara Cloyd (the owner), randomly chose 6 people who got to sing a 2nd original to close out the evening. She called 5 names and I silently thought to myself, “Oh there’s no way I’ll get to sing a second one.”</p><p>The Lord surprised me another time today! She called out my name and I got to close out the night with the last song. Oh my gosh, it was so amazing! I sang, “Vanity” (one of the songs on my upcoming EP).</p><figure><img src="https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1017/1*SQh1nuq2_sH6DYi-uVZ0DA.jpeg" class="size_orig justify_inline border_" alt="" /></figure><p>This whole week has been full of crossing things off on my bucket list. My Experience at the Country Music Hall of Fame
<p><strong>Nashville Day 2:</strong></p><figure><img src="https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1024/1*-KyFZ0ISqL885vz4ryu1bg.jpeg" class="size_orig justify_inline border_" alt="" /></figure><p>It had been a long night of travels and mishaps. Arriving at our hotel late, mom and I didn’t end up falling asleep till 2am EST! But now we’re in Central Time, so I guess it wasn’t so bad. It’s like experiencing the time change that people actually enjoy: falling back an hour. Not spring forward; nobody likes that one. ?</p><figure><img src="https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/551/1*eLZ0uaqEeqIJVxvW1-hrGA.jpeg" class="size_orig justify_inline border_" alt="" /></figure><p>We took our first Uber ride ever and went to the Country Music Hall of Fame. I think I geeked out the most at seeing all the Taylor Swift memorabilia. What’s not to love about that sparkle guitar? ?</p><figure><img src="https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1024/1*9LCpTOyhvDdA_1tk6-B7DQ.png" class="size_orig justify_inline border_" alt="" /></figure><p>Right around the corner, they had a wall where you could write on a sticky note what music means to you. Music is a form of journaling for me. It’s raw, it’s real, and it’s personal. It has to be. I find that when I write a song that’s transparent and honest, other people come up to me and tell me they experience the same things too. I think people are more alike than we often realize, so there’s no reason to go through things alone. Honesty opens the door for conversation.</p><figure><img src="https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1024/1*PcNer-Sf9-k_ivspknM16g.png" class="size_orig justify_inline border_" alt="" /></figure><blockquote>“Music is being honest and finding other people feel that too.”</blockquote><figure><img src="https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1024/1*toVPE6vCnjY9Wvg6Uldglg.jpeg" class="size_orig justify_inline border_" alt="" /></figure><p>We ended the night with some excellent live music at The Row in downtown Nashville. One performance from a Top 24 contestant on American Idol, and one from the X Factor. We had the best waitress ever and it all made for a memorable night out! Roadblocks & Identity Issues
<p><strong>Nashville Day 1:</strong></p><p>So I’m not quite sure how this all worked out… but somehow I scored a 10-day mother/daughter trip to Nashville, Tennessee! It’s been one of my life goals to get there and this trip kind of fell out of the sky and onto our laps. Mom was going for a business trip and when we found out it was in the city of music itself, we both knew I just HAD to come.</p><p>We encountered so many roadblocks leading up to our departure; one of the worst being that my driver’s license had expired unbeknownst to me. God bless the man at the bank for pointing it out to me! It was already too late to renew it that night, so we woke up early and stood in line at the photo center. When we got there, the man at the door informed us that they were CLOSED because of Presidents Day… on a Saturday.</p><p>In a panic, I googled everything I could about how the TSA handles expired licenses. Mixed opinions only made me feel uneasy about it. So alas, I grabbed every bit of paperwork to prove exactly who I am. (And prayed a LOT!)</p><figure><img src="https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/677/1*MoqmzQ5fyoUl4oA0V4lznw.jpeg" class="size_orig justify_inline border_" alt="" /></figure><p>You know what? TSA was a breeze! Like it literally took all but 5 minutes to enter and exit the line. It’s funny how we can work up such a sweat over the little things. *Insert huge sigh of relief here.*</p><p>We flew out of Harrisburg on the tiniest plane I’ve ever ridden on. Granted, this is only my second time flying, so I guess I’m not one to judge these things, ha! When we exited the plane, we walked down an outdoor ramp instead of inside the terminal. It made me feel like the President of the United States. Mom says it wasn’t <em>that</em> fancy… but I thought it was pretty darn cool. ?</p><figure><img src="https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1024/1*uTdZMjW9jO-AZvBv6-9c7w.jpeg" class="size_orig justify_inline border_" alt="" /></figure><p>Due to our flight being delayed, we literally ran to the complete other end of the Charlotte Airport only to find our next plane left without us! Since we had 5 hours to kill, we walked all the way back and found Panda Express (because their black pepper chicken is just that killer). We wandered back to our boarding gate and I snuggled up in my sherpa blanket. People chuckled at me, but I don’t care that much! Mom and I laughed at how some people look <em>sooooo</em> put together when they travel. How do they do it? They might look fabulous, but I’ve got a sherpa blanket. So ha! #ultimatecomfort</p><figure><img src="https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1024/1*50njemCK8NleWT8M9kgE2g.jpeg" class="size_orig justify_inline border_" alt="" /></figure><p>I was ever so glad when the wheels hit the ground in Nashville! Changing the Situation in Homeless Ministry
<p>“When we go into Kensington as the body of Christ, it changes the situation.” - James Holt </p>
<p>Keeping this truth in the back of our minds, about 105 of us boarded on some buses headed for Kensington Avenue. </p>
<p>Now if you've never been there before, you'll notice certain keywords when you search Kensington on Google: <br>- Heroin <br>- Prostitution <br>- Drug corners <br>- Crime <br>- Homeless </p>
<p>I had been there one time before and had already seen a drug deal on a street corner. It's so easy to only see the mess, the drugs, the smell, the trash… but God sees something else. God sees people and He desperately wants them to know Him. </p>
<p>So there we were, all 105 of us, bringing hope to real people who need Christ just as much as we do. Each of us packed 2 meals containing a sandwich and a water bottle. Combined, that was over 200+ meals! </p>
<p>As our group got off the bus, it was immediately easy to feel intimidated and not want to be there. I suppose Jonah might have felt that way about Nineveh. </p>
<p>We kept our focus, and many of the homeless came right up to us for the meals and hygiene packs. It's amazing how God uses a physical need to, more importantly, provide a spiritual need as well. </p>
<p>Over the course of an hour, my group was able to offer meals and prayer with about 10 homeless men and women. Some only wanted the food we had to give, but how blessed we were to even minister to them in that way alone. </p>
<p>When I gave a meal to the first man I came across, I asked him how I could pray for him. He openly said he was on heroin for years and was trying to beat his addiction. He had a 14-year-old daughter at home he was trying to get back to. </p>
<p>One man hurt his hand, so we went to the pharmacy next door and got him ice and an ace bandage to help the swelling go down. </p>
<p>The stories didn't stop. One lost his job two months ago and was separated from his family in El Salvador. A man was number five on a waiting list, attempting to get into a home. A woman got into a fight and hurt her arm. One man was in prison years ago, and was now trying to get his life together. </p>
<p>They looked scary. The selfish part of me wanted to just go back on the bus and be done. I didn't want to walk up to them, but I'm glad we did. Most of them were extremely friendly. These were hurting people, and we got the opportunity to pray with them, give them hugs, shake their hands, and even invite them to church and talk about God. </p>
<p>All this to say, sometimes God calls us into uncomfortable situations. If we can take a moment to see past people’s problems and see people, real people, how can we not share Christ with them? It's only another reminder that we see the outward appearance but God sees the heart. How humbling! </p>
<p>I challenge you today to look around your city or town. What are the physical needs? How can you provide a spiritual need by means of a physical one? You don't have to go to Kensington to find hurting people. They're all around us. Let's make an impact by loving deeply and bringing hope to the broken. As the body of Christ, we can change the situation. </p>

Book Review: Grace is Greater - Kyle Idleman
<p><span class="font_regular">Something that caught my attention right away about this book was redefining the word grace. We've gotten so accustomed to it. Every sermon is about it. It's something we've been given, and something we should give away. But do we really understand it… the depth of what it truly means?</span></p>

<p>Something I learned was that Jesus never used the <i>word</i> grace, though he continually <i>showed</i> us what it looked like throughout his life and ministry. He even shows us that same grace today. <br><br>Grace and forgiveness has been a topic I have been studying in-depth this year, and <i>Grace is Greater </i>has really been a great read. Kyle has such a way with words, and his openness to share, even from his personal experience, makes this book that much better. </p>

Winter Reviews
<strong><span class="font_large">Project Inspired</span></strong><br>This book, written by Nicole Weider, is a must read for Christian young women. As I read this, it felt less like reading a book, and more like flipping through the pages of a magazine. Similar in style to Nicole's website, she covers a number of topics, ranging from beauty and fashion tips, to relationships, overcoming depression, and sharing your faith.<em> Project Inspired</em> challenges young girls to face culture with the mind of Christ.<br><br><strong><span class="font_large">The Chase</span></strong><br><em>The Chase</em> was simply a joy to read. Written by married couple, Kyle and Kelsey Kupecky, each chapter alternates between the two as they recount their love story. The book starts off long before they meet each other, as they struggle with former significant others, grow in their faith, and eventually fall in love with one another. The overall theme teaches us the great importance of trusting God with our happily ever after. What is so enchanting about <em>The Chase</em>, is to read the same love story from two different perspectives.

God Listens to the Little Things

Oh what an impactful week that was on my life! This was my sixth year going to youth conference and my first year as a leader. The theme this year was Yours; finding your identity in Jesus Christ. </p>
<p>All week, an immense amount of discipleship happened with the teens as they were taught how to share their faith and show God’s love to people. On the last day of conference, over 2,000 teens and leaders went out into surrounding areas to do ministry and share Christ with the community. </p>
<p>To preface this story… Last year, we met TWO Teresa’s. <p>The morning of the outreach day, all the leaders met to pray about the people we were going to meet. We prayed for boldness for each person going out to serve. We prayed for receptive hearts to hear what we had to say. When we were finished, one of the other leaders in our group joked about having met two Teresa’s last year. “What are we going to get this year? THREE Bob’s?” </p>
<p>While it was simply a joke, I silently prayed that God would give us three Bob’s for real. And guess what? He totally did. </p>
<p>We walked through a neighborhood that day knocking on doors and praying with people. It was a neat experience. I hadn't forgotten my prayer that morning, but the day was slowly passing by as it grew hotter and hotter outside. We came across a small cul de sac that wasn't on our route. We decided to go up to those houses in addition to our path. </p>
<p>The first house we came up to was under construction. The man who greeted us said his name was Bob. I laughed inwardly, thinking God just gave us “Bob the Builder”! </p>
<p>At the very next house we went to, an elderly man came to the door. He appeared to have just gotten a tracheotomy. We prayed with him for a speedy recovery and healing from his surgery. When I asked him what his name was, he said it was Bob. </p>
<p>The moment he closed the door I turned around and smiled real big. Two Bob's!! One more to go! I told the rest of the group what I had prayed for earlier that morning. </p>
<p>We passed more houses and prayed with more people. Eventually we came up upon two men doing yard work. We got the chance to talk to them and guess what?! One of the gentleman’s name was Bob! </p>
<p>There you go! THREE Bob’s! God answered such a simple prayer I had prayed after just laughing at a joke about meeting three Bob’s. Isn't that cool? </p>
<p><span class="font_xl">It left me with these reminders: </span></p><strong>1) God cares intimately about you. He takes notice of those tiny details that even we overlook. When we speak, He listens.</strong>
<ul> <li>Matthew 10:29-31 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. </li> <li>Psalm 139:1 O Lord, you have searched me and known me!</li>
</ul><strong>2) God wants us to take everything to Him in prayer. Good times, heartbreak, praises, sorrows… Give it all up to Him who listens. </strong>
<ul> <li>Psalm 5:1-2 Give ear to my words, O Lord; consider my groaning. Give attention to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to you do I pray. </li>
</ul><br><strong>3) The power of specific prayers. Jabez called to God for specific needs, and God listened to his prayer request. </strong>
<ul> <li>1 Chronicles 4:10 Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from harm so that it might not bring me pain!” And God granted what he asked. </li>
</ul><br><strong>4) God rewards obedience. Sometimes those blessings come in different ways. </strong>
<ul> <li>Matthew 7:11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!</li>

Lots of people, whether intentional or not, have set expectations for me. I graduated in 2014 and made the decision to not go to college full-time right away. I figure that it will always be there, but this is my time to pursue my dream.<br><br>Most people have been super supportive of my music. And then there's some people who almost seem disappointed in me for choosing an unconventional career, especially without college under my belt. In all honesty, this has stressed me out a lot over the past year. I was letting other people's opinions affect my attitude. Long story short, I have prayed SO hard about pursuing my music, and I do feel I'm where God wants me to be right now. So if I truly believe that I am walking in God's will for my life, then it doesn't matter what other people think...and that's what this song is about.<br><br>If you have a dream, pursue it with all you've got. Love Found Me: Behind the Song
<span style="font-size: 16.7999992370605px;">I was thinking a lot about the Israelites when I wrote "</span><strong style="font-size: 16.7999992370605px;">Love Found Me</strong><span style="font-size: 16.7999992370605px;">". They spent 40 years...40 YEARS... wandering in the wilderness, because they disobeyed God. They were living life in circles. They would obey God and then fall out of fellowship with him, and the cycle goes on and on.</span><br style="font-size: 16.7999992370605px;"><br style="font-size: 16.7999992370605px;"><span style="font-size: 16.7999992370605px;">It's easy for me to look back and say, "Well if they just walked with God, they could have been spared so much!" But the thing is, we do the same thing every single day. Maybe we aren't bowing down to graven images, but we still have idols in our lives; things we make more important than God. </span><br style="font-size: 16.7999992370605px;"><br style="font-size: 16.7999992370605px;"><span style="font-size: 16.7999992370605px;">We are far from perfect human beings. Honoring God on Facebook
<span class="font_regular">Facebook in itself is not a bad thing, but it’s very important how we choose to use it. It can be a powerful tool for ministry, or it can be extremely negative. Either way, it’s an honest unveiling of character. “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” (Proverbs 18:21)<br><br><br><strong>What we need to STOP doing on Facebook:</strong><br><br><br><strong>Vague rants and calling people out. </strong>If you have an issue with someone, go to them directly… not directly on their Facebook page, but privately and in person, rather. “If our brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over.” (Matthew 18:15)<br><br><strong>Language and adult humor.</strong> Frankly, these posts are unnecessary and we need to be especially mindful of anything a young person may see in their news feed. Your posts go out to<em> everyone</em> on your friend list, young and old. If we want to see a change in our younger generation, we need to set that example ourselves. “In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.” (Titus 2:7-8)<br><br><strong>Trying to be someone you’re not.</strong> If you wouldn’t say it in real life, you probably shouldn’t say it online either. “If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless.” (James 1:26)<br><br><strong>Debates in the comment section.</strong> They almost always end badly and nobody’s opinion is going to change by fighting about it. If you’re going to have that deep of a discussion with someone, consider taking that to a private chat box instead. Not everything needs to be or should be public. “Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. And the Lord’s servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful.” (2 Timothy 2:23-24)<br><br><br><strong>What we need to START doing on Facebook:</strong><br><br> <br><strong>Shine the light of Christ on and off of Facebook. </strong>Actions are the overflow of the heart. When you post and interact with your friends, let your love for Christ shine through. “The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.” (Luke 6:45)<br><br><strong>Encourage each other.</strong> It’s uplifting to lift others up! I just wish more people realized that. Putting other people down not only hurts others, but you as well. “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” (Ephesians 4:29)<br><br><strong>Use wisdom in your words.</strong> “My mouth will speak words of wisdom; the utterance from my heart will give understanding.” (Psalm 49:3)<br><br><strong>Be slow to speak. </strong>Much too often we post something without thinking first. Take time to listen before anything else, because hastiness usually makes for messy situations. “My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry, for man’s anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.” (James 1:19-20)<br><br>The beauty of Facebook is that before you ever post a single thing, you can look back at what you wrote. I honestly don’t think we take advantage of that near as much as we should. There are many questions to ask yourself before posting, but I think these three really capture the big picture:<br><br><strong>Is it necessary?</strong><br><br><strong>Is it kind?<br><br>Is it holy?</strong><br><br>Social media is permanent. Sure you could delete something you regret posting, but once someone’s seen it, you can’t take it back. It’s like trying to put toothpaste back in the tube – next to impossible. Be extremely careful about what you choose to post permanently.<br> <br>I think Thumper sums it up pretty well… “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say nothing at all.”</span>

The Beauty of Grace
Grace. It's something we all need, but certainly don't deserve. It's something we readily accept, but find hard to give. God gave us the ultimate gift of grace when he died on the cross for our sins, coming back to life on the third day. We do not deserve his forgiveness, but he gives it to us anyway... just because he loves us. He loves us so much more than we will ever even know.<br><br>Now turn the situation around. Imagine somebody wronged you in every way possible. How would you respond? How did Jesus respond? After all, we wronged the King of Kings in every way possible.<br><br>Bitterness is not the answer; it never is. We're so much more effective when we choose love. God himself is love... which means we need to be Christ to people. It doesn't matter how much someone has hurt you. Extend grace and love. In Matthew, it says to love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. It's not about choosing sides, or deciding who's right and wrong. It's about honoring Jesus Christ in every choice we make, with every step we take. It's choosing love when everything inside us screams otherwise. Forgiveness is extending mercy where it isn't deserved. It not only sets them free... it sets you free. That's the beauty of grace.<br><br>Romans 5:8<br>But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.<br>

Life Beyond High School
I graduated earlier this May, and I absolutely love being out of school. Who wouldn't love having no more homework? I'm taking at least a year off before college to work full-time on my music career, and I've never had so much free time on my hands. But all of that said, there's also an element of trust that goes into it all. It's funny how when we're stuck in a routine, everything seems so simple. We think we know all of life's hardest questions, but what do we know, really? All I know is that I'm learning to trust God in a completely new way. <br><br>So with beginning a new era of life (that makes me feel incredibly old saying that), I decided I should also step out of my box and serve God in new ways as well. I recently started helping out with my church's youth group. Ever since attending my first Momentum Youth Conference four years ago, God has given me such a heart for this age group. It's an influential time in a person's life; they’re so moldable and yearning for the truth. I never thought I'd be serving in this way, but God has slowly been tugging on my heart about it for a while now, even though I tried to ignore it. So when the opportunity arose, I jumped at it. I'm curious to see where all of this will lead, so I'm trusting that God knows what he's doing.<br><br>If I'm being honest, it's scary not knowing what the future holds. It's like reading the most amazing novel ever and then not being able to skip to the ending for a quick sneak peek. Chapter by chapter, people come and go from our lives. Some make a difference in ways that they'll never know. We’ll try things we never thought we would do. There will be plot twists at every turn. We don't know how our stories will end, but they were written long ago, before even time itself began. God can use us in ways we never imagined, but we need to have a willingness to serve and to trust him when everything else seems uncertain. <br><br>My prayer is that whether through my music, youth group or another ministry, one person would come to know Jesus and walk closely with him. If I reach one person, then it will ALL be worth it.<br><br>I don't know what my future holds, but I’m sure of who holds it! So all my greatest dreams, plans, and hopes... I place them in your hands, God - the author of my story.<br>

What I Learned at Momentum 2014
My youth group recently attended Momentum National Youth Conference. This year’s theme was based on Kyle Idleman’s book <em>Not a Fan</em>. Each speaker challenged us to not just be a <em>fan of Jesus</em>, but to <em>follow him</em> with everything we are. It’s such a simple concept, yet each and every one of us seems to struggle with it.<br><br><strong>Some things I learned from the week:</strong><br>- I need to define my relationship with Christ. Do I <em>exclusively </em>belong to Jesus?<br>- Have I been raised in the Church or in Christ?<br>- What did I have to say no to, to say yes to Jesus?<br>- “Good behavior” should not be my goal, but the result of loving God more deeply.<br>- You can’t clean a fish before you catch it.<br>- “I need to be willing to do crazy, stupid stuff to share Jesus with people.” – Greg Stier<br>- “When you stand before the God of the universe, what good is your personal resume going to be?” – Trip Lee<br>- A lot of people have the right destination [Heaven] in their GPS, but don’t follow the instructions to get there. The Bible is our roadmap and following Jesus is the only way to Heaven.<br>- God’s absolutes are absolutely good.<br>- I can trust the Word of God because the Word of God died for me.<br>- I can follow the Truth, because I know who gave it.<br>- “Before you jump over a fence, ask why it was put there.” – Keith Minier<br>- “Maybe you have a hard time listening to God’s Word because you don’t know God.” – Keith Minier<br>- Take up your cross daily. It’s a continuous struggle.<br>- “A Christian out of God’s will is like a fish out of water. He’s going to struggle until you put him back in the water.” – Afshin Ziafat<br>- The remedy for loneliness is to serve.<br>- “It is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.” (1 Peter 3:17)<br><br>It’s easy to just let the week be a spiritual high and return to our everyday lives, but it’s more than a spiritual high. It’s the difference between being a fan of Jesus and a follower of Jesus. Momentum doesn’t end when you get home. A Shy Girl's Survival Guide
<strong>1)</strong> <strong>Be </strong><strong>yourself.</strong> So what if you’re a little shy. If people get to know you, they’ll find out that you’re actually a pretty cool person! Let your hair down and just be real with people.

<br><strong>2) Step out of your comfort zone.</strong> What comes easy to some might be extremely difficult for others. We all have our limits of what we’re comfortable with. Just remember that character growth comes from stretching yourself.</div>

<strong>3) Self-image.</strong> How do you view yourself? You are treasured and sacred! When you start believing it, this attitude will overflow into your actions. </div>

<strong>4) Carry yourself with confidence.</strong> “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love, and of self-discipline.” (2 Timothy 1:7). Confidence is an attractive quality in any person. It shows that you’re comfortable in your own skin.<br> </div>

<strong>5) Shift your focus onto other people, rather than yourself.</strong> The less you criticize your every move, the easier you’ll find it is to open up to people.</div>

<strong>6) Be approachable.</strong> Look up and smile! </div>

<strong>7) Initiate conversation.</strong> Don’t be afraid to make the first move. I’ve learned the best way to <em>make </em>a friend is to <em>be </em>a friend. If this sounds really unnerving to you, start by talking with the cashier at the store. You’ll find that once the conversation is rolling, most people will be responsive to a kind word.</div>

<strong>8) Listen.</strong> Have you ever gotten so caught up in what you’re going to say next that you totally missed what someone else said? I find that if you actually listen to what others say, your response will be much more genuine.</div>

<strong>9) Ask questions.</strong> Most people love to talk about themselves. Ask “why” questions and you’ll start to see the intricate dimensions of someone’s personality.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>
<strong>10) Find common interests</strong>. When getting to know someone, it really helps to find some common ground. Maybe you both love the same band... or maybe, just maybe, they’re as big of a nerd as you are about superheroes! Chances are that you’ll find something you both love to talk about.</div>
<div> </div>

<strong>11) </strong><strong>Stop the people pleasing.</strong> It’s frankly exhausting trying to be who the world wants you to be. It’s so much more freeing to simply be who God made you to be. Find what makes you unique and let it shine.</div>

17 Ways to Bust a Bad Mood
<strong>1) Just breathe.</strong> Give yourself a few minutes and try to cool down from all the negativity. Go outside, soak up some sun, and get ready to tackle the cranky.<br> <br><strong>2) Find the core of the cranky.</strong> What is <em>really</em> bothering you? This will help you to solve the problem, as opposed to blaming your bad mood on trivial things. It might help to write down how you're feeling. This helps you to process any emotions you didn't realize were even there.<br> <br><strong>3) Be sensitive to the people around you.</strong> Negativity can spread like wildfire. Before you know it, everyone is feeling down. So before you lash out, just think of the difference you could make if you let your joy be contagious, instead of your negativity.<br> <br><strong>4) Don't shut people out.</strong> If it's more than obvious that you're in a bad mood, there will be two kinds of people. People who will do anything to avoid you, and those who will go out of their way to help you. Whatever the case, don't push people away. Somebody might even have some words of wisdom to share with you.<br> <br><strong>5) Listen to the world's happiest songs. </strong>Personally, I think it's nearly impossible to listen to "Walking on Sunshine" and not be at least a little happy. The songs we listen to most certainly impact our mood. Keep those lyrics healthy and positive! Most people say we are what we eat... but maybe we are what we listen to.<br> <br><strong>6) Laugh.</strong> Smile. Skip. Whatever you do, just express an attitude of happiness. After awhile, you'll find it's pretty contagious!<br> <br><strong>7) Give somebody a giant bear hug.</strong> Guaranteed to lighten any bad mood.<br> <br><strong>8) Count your blessings.</strong> There is ALWAYS something to be thankful for.<br> <br><strong>9) Think positive.</strong> Philippians 4:8 says, "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things."<br> <br><strong>10) Doodle a gazillion smiley faces on a piece of paper.</strong> Totally random, but totally effective. This is coming from somebody who's tried it herself! Eventually, you will be so overcome with smiley faces that you'll just have to smile too!<br> <br><strong>11) Sing.</strong> Find an instrument, and write whatever's on your mind. It's like musical journaling.<br> <br><strong>12) Watch some stand-up comedy.</strong> Even if you don't want to improve your mood, you'll surely end up laughing at some stupid joke that isn't all that funny.<br> <br><strong>13) Embrace optimism.</strong> Carry yourself with confidence and look for the best in life.<br> <br><strong>14) Keep things in perspective.</strong> If you're in a bad mood, chances are, you won't be cranky forever. (At least I hope!) Don't forget that there is indeed a bigger picture.<br> <br><strong>15) Demonstrate a Christ-like Attitude.</strong> No matter how stressed or cranky you may be, you still need to display the love of Christ to others. Never lose sight of that.<br> <br><strong>16) Always keep your end goal in mind.</strong> If you know where you want to be, find out how to get there.<br> <br><strong>17) Talk to God about what's bothering you.</strong> Sometimes we overstress and try to handle it all by ourselves, instead of letting God step in and help. Even when you don't find the answers easily, just pray this one through. All the quick fixes in the world can't compare to talking one on one with God. "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." (1 Peter 5:7).<br>

Hosea: A Story of Unconditional Love

<p><br><span class="font_regular">The book of Hosea paints a beautiful picture of God’s unconditional love for his people. God instructed Hosea to take an adulterous woman as his wife and love her. Hosea married Gomer, daughter of Diblaim. Repeatedly throughout the marriage, Gomer was unfaithful to her husband. Despite her unfaithfulness, Hosea loved his wife unconditionally with the same love God still gives us today. <br><br>In the remaining chapters of the book, an analogy is drawn between Hosea and God. Israel disobeyed the Lord, and was unfaithful to Him over and over again, as Gomer was unfaithful to her husband. God still extended agape love, even when Israel turned her back on Him. Hosea 14:1 and 4 tell how God yearned for his people to run to Him again. <span style="color:#0000CD;">“Return, O Israel, to the LORD your God. Your sins have been your downfall! I will heal their waywardness and love them freely, for my anger has turned away from them”</span><br> <br>After reading this incredible story, it made me re-evaluate how I love others. Is my love conditional, or am I loving selflessly? 1 Corinthians 13:5 explains that love is not self-seeking and keeps no record of wrongs. That verse perfectly sums up Hosea’s character. God taught him so much about putting others first, even when they don’t deserve it. I think we can all learn from Hosea how to love the unlovely.</span><br> </p>

It might not be where we <em>want </em>to be, but it’s where God <em>needs </em>us to be.<br><br>Look at Jonah, for example. God instructed Jonah to go to the city of Nineveh. This was the last place Jonah wanted to go to. It was a very wicked city; headed for destruction.<br><br>Jonah intentionally tried to flee from the presence of the Lord, sailing towards Tarshish. He was well aware of his own actions, that he was disobeying God. After being thrown into the sea by fellow sailors, Jonah was swallowed by a great fish. He stayed there for three days and three nights, praying long and earnestly. God spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah out upon dry land.<br><br>A second time, God commanded Jonah to go to Nineveh. This time, Jonah did as the Lord asked. He went and boldly spoke to the Ninevites, and the city turned back to God. Because of this, the Lord spared Nineveh.<br><br>Jonah didn’t necessarily <em>want </em>to go to Nineveh, but that’s where God <em>needed </em>him to be. We need to look beyond our comfort zone to see the needs of others. What is God calling you to do?</span></span>

Defining Moments

One-Year Anniversary!!!

<br><span class="font_regular">I recently had the pleasure of reading <em>Lies Young Women Believe</em> by Nancy Leigh DeMoss and Dannah Gresh. This book is about the top 25 lies that girls believe, and the truth that sets them free. Material covers lies we believe about God, Satan, ourselves, guys, relationships, our faith, sin, media, and the future. Every topic is assigned specific Scripture references that shed light on each lie. Repeatedly, it encourages you to not just <em>know </em>the truth, but to <em>believe </em>it. This is an incredible book and I would recommend it to any young lady. <b><span style="font-size: medium;">1) Drastic measures.</span></b><span style="font-size: medium;"> Radical results call for drastic measures. In Revelation, God mentions the lukewarm church of Laodicea. He wishes they would be either hot or cold, but not lukewarm. Does this sound familiar? A lot of people today are living as lukewarm Christians, blending godly morals with the things of this world. It just doesn’t work. You can’t live for God <i>and </i>the world; it’s one or the other. Live your life on fire for Christ!<br><br><b>2) Transformation. </b>If you’ve accepted Christ into your life, you are a new creation! The old has gone and the new has come.<br><br><b>3) Committed change.</b> Change is something you decide in your heart ahead of time. With God on your side, you can do <i>anything</i>. So don’t lose heart, because through God’s amazing grace, you have the power to change. You can make a difference, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.<br><br><b>4) Accountability. </b>Set goals and be held responsible for your actions. You’ll find that accountability really helps grow your character.<br><br><b>5) A Biblical lifestyle. </b>You can talk Christianity all you want, but what matters most is living it out. You need to back up your words with actions, because they speak louder than words. Make it real, and own your faith.<br><br><b>6) Pass it on. </b>If you’re radical about something, you don’t keep it all to yourself. Share the Good News that Jesus Christ is alive!</span><br><br>

Empty Wells
<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 255);"><span style="font-size: medium;">Jeremiah 2:13 (NCV)<br>
My people have done two evils: They have turned away from me, the spring of living water. And they have dug their own wells, which are broken wells that cannot hold water.</span></span><span style="font-size: medium;"><br><br>
Various times throughout Scripture, Jesus is referred to as the Living Water. He fulfills our every need and satisfies our weary souls.<br><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 255);"><br>
John 4:13 (NCV)<br>
Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give will never be thirsty. The water I give will become a spring of water gushing up inside that person, giving eternal life.”</span><br><br>
Now, it seems kind of stupid to reject the Living Water for an empty well, right? Why trade holiness for such imperfection? The thing is, we do it everyday. Over and over, we go back to our own empty wells, thinking we’ll find love, happiness, acceptance… you name it; but every time, the broken well fails us. It’s a cheap substitute for something far greater. It can never give us what we truly need. <br><br>
That’s where Jesus comes in. Only when we run to our Savior’s arms can we find love, happiness, and acceptance. I’m not talking about an earthly love. I mean an everlasting, perfect love that only Jesus can offer us. The best part is that it’s completely free! Whatever it is that you’ve been holding back, just let it go. Identify <i>your empty well</i> that leaves you thirsty. You’ll never thirst again once you accept the Living Water.<br></span><br>

Kindness Leads to Repentance
<span style="font-size: medium;">As I was reading Romans 2, this powerful verse seemed to jump right off the page:<br><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 255);"><br>

Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?</span><br><br>
How it relates to you…<br>
I feel like because we know that God is a forgiving God, which He is, we too often take advantage of that. We tend to justify our own evil behavior, because we know God will forgive us. God’s grace is meant to lead you to be more like Him; it’s not an excuse to keep living in error. In what areas of your life are you taking God for granted?<br><br>
How it relates to others…<br>
Throughout Romans 2, Paul compares man’s imperfect judgment with God’s righteous judgment. We are quick to judge people for the very things that we do ourselves. When other people make mistakes, Jesus shows us how to be patient and kind with them, because <i>kindness </i>leads to repentance. Who can you extend more grace to?<br><br>

7 Ways to Help a Struggling Friend
<b><span style="font-size: medium;">1) Their feelings are very real. </span></b><span style="font-size: medium;">Don’t pretend they don’t exist. If there is a specific issue, pin-point it and lead them to a better place.<br><br><b>2) Be sincere with them.</b> Be their friend because you genuinely care about them, not just because you pity them. Lying to them will only lower their self-esteem. <br><br><b>3) Have a heart to heart. </b>Speaking the truth in love is one of the best ways to help someone grow. Take time to invest in their life. It will mean a lot.<br><br><b>4) Give them a confidence booster.</b> Compliment them. Encourage them. A positive influence can work wonders in their life.<br><br><b>5) Be a role-model. </b>Don’t be constantly putting yourself or others down. The best way to teach someone is by example. So in essence, live what you preach.<br><br><b>6) Be there for them.</b> Sometimes a friend just needs a shoulder to cry on. It’s great to give advice and direction, but there’s something to be said for being a good listener.<br><br><b>7) Just be friendly. </b>True friends are by your side through the good, the bad, and the ugly. 10 Ways to Build Healthy Relationships
<span style="font-size: medium;">These are my top 10 tips on building healthy relationships:</span><b><span style="font-size: medium;"><br><br>
1) Treat each other how you want to be treated. </span></b><span style="font-size: medium;">You all know the Golden Rule. The world would be a much nicer place if we all actually followed this. <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 255);">“And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.” (Luke 6:31 ESV).</span><br><br><b>2) Be second.</b> Face it… we live in a very “me-centered” culture. Put the needs of others before your own personal wants. <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 255);">“He must increase, but I must decrease.” (John 3:30 ESV).</span><br><br><b>3) Strive for perfection, but don’t expect it. </b>We make way too many high expectations that can’t be attained. Don’t get me wrong… we have to give God our BEST, but don’t beat yourself up when you fall short. Believe me, you will make mistakes. <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 255);">“Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you.” (Philippians 3:12-15 ESV).</span><br><br><b>4) Learn to love the unlovable.</b> It’s very easy to love someone who is likeable or popular, but how much harder is it to love someone when they don’t deserve it? God sent his only Son to die in my place when I least deserved it. The least I can do is love the unlovely. <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 255);">“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect." (Matthew 5:43-48 ESV).</span><br><br><b>5) Hang in there… even when it’s tough.</b> No relationship is perfect. You don’t hang around for the sunshine and leave the moment it rains. Stop waiting for the storms to pass and learn to dance in the rain. <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 255);">“Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.” (James 1:12 ESV).</span><br><br><b>6) Learn to forgive. </b>Don’t let bitterness and brokenness go unresolved. If there’s a problem, fix it. Talk it through, but speak with love. <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 255);">“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” (Ephesians 4:32 ESV).</span><br><br><b>7) Be honest with each other. </b>Honesty is the best policy! Don’t base your relationship on lies and half-truths. Make sure you can trust each other. <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 255);">“Whoever walks in integrity will be delivered, but he who is crooked in his ways will suddenly fall.” (Proverbs 28:18 ESV).</span><br><br><b>8) Be an encourager. </b>Encouragement is so much important than we often realize. Even a simple compliment or a kind word can mean the world to someone. Your words will either build someone up or tear someone down. Choose your words to inspire. <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 255);">“Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.” (Romans 12:10 ESV).</span><br><br><b>9) Take time to laugh.</b> Enjoy this wonderful world that God created. Laughter is medicine for the soul! Don’t rush through life so quickly that you forget to enjoy the little things. Sometimes, the little things are what you treasure the most. <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 255);">“Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, ‘The Lord has done great things for them.’” (Psalm 126:2 ESV).</span><br><br><b>10) Know that the best relationships are Christ-centered. </b>Always put God first and keep Him at the center. </span><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 255);"><span style="font-size: medium;">“Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” (Psalm 37:4 ESV).</span></span><br>

I was very blessed this year to be a finalist in Momentum's Got Talent. I got a $1000 scholarship to Lancaster Bible College and a $1500 scholarship to Grace College. Music Review: I Choose Jesus
<span style="font-size: medium;">I just had the chance to listen to Moriah Peters' album, <i>I Choose Jesus</i>. I absolutely loved it! Moriah has a beautiful voice and a very laidback, acoustic sound. Highlight songs, for me, included "Well Done", "Sing in the Rain", and "Haven't Even Kissed". I thoroughly enjoyed the CD, and I'm sure you will too!<br><br></span>

10 Things I Do When I'm Voiceless
<span style="font-size: medium;">Okay, so when you’re flat on the couch with a cold, you have to entertain yourself <i>somehow</i>, right? As a singer/songwriter (and someone who loves to talk), it’s the most tragic thing <i>ever </i>to lose my voice. So I thought I’d share my favorite things to do when I have a cold and no voice.<br><br>
1) Listening to every Owl City song ever recorded. <img src="//bandzoogle.com/common/FCKEditor/editor/images/smiley/msn/teeth_smile.gif" class="size_orig justify_inline border_" alt="" /> Yes… it’s been done.<br><br>
2) Eating as much as possible. Starve a fever, feed a cold… right? Haha! Just kidding.<br><br>
3) Typing silly messages using text-to-speech software.<br><br>
4) Writing lyrics for new songs and praying I remember the tune when I can sing again.<br><br>
5) Trying to sing anyway and being reminded exactly why I’m on vocal rest.<br><br>
6) Writing blog posts about having no voice. (See what I did there?!)<br><br>
7) Sleeping…. like forever. Then waking up to the cold reality that “forever” was really just 5 minutes.<br><br>
8) Confession: Spending way too much time on Facebook.<br><br>
9) Remixing “Expectations” on my computer to sound like the Chipmunks are singing it. Hilarious!<br><br>
10) Googling my name and geeking out about at all the websites that are selling my CD in Euros.</span><br>

Humbling Yourself Before God
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">What do you think it means to humble yourself? The Webster dictionary defines humility as not being proud, haughty, arrogant, or assertive. It also describes the characteristics of humility as reflecting, expressing, or offering a spirit of deference or submission.<br><br>Now what does it mean to humble yourself <i>before God</i>? To me, it means coming before Jesus in awe and reverence, despite of what people may think of you. It’s being willing to say, “I was wrong”. It’s the positioning of your heart to be open to His Word. It’s taking the focus off of yourself and focusing on what really matters – God!<br><br>Come to the cross with a clear conscience. Confess your sins to the Lord, give up whatever is burdening you, and be willing to <i>leave it at the cross</i>. Much too often, we give something up to God and try to take it right back when we get stressed about it. Once you take it to the cross, leave it there. The Body of Christ
<span style="font-size: medium;">Ephesians 4:11-16 (ESV)<br>
“And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.”<br><br>
In these times, Christians and the church are dividing very easily over things that really shouldn’t be issues. In all honesty, it’s extremely easy to be judgmental and tear one another down. Why do we go there? This generation walks away from relationships the moment things get hard. What if we stuck around and worked through our problems? Just imagine how many marriages would survive against the ever-increasing divorce rate. Imagine how much stronger families would be, creating a solid foundation in Christ. Imagine the kind of testimony the church could have; a merciful, grace-giving testimony.<br><br>
When we become born-again believers in Jesus, we enter into the body of Christ. We represent our Creator in everything we do: our actions, our words, and our lifestyle. We should be the ones to set the example. If non-believers look at us and can’t see anything different about us, then we’re doing it wrong. God gave grace to us when we absolutely did not deserve it, so why can’t we extend that grace to others? We should be edifying each other, not tearing each other down. I challenge you to mercifully extend grace. Love without conditions. Build each other up in love.<br><br>
People are watching. Let them see Jesus.</span><br>

10 Ways to Get Rid of Stress
<span style="font-size: medium;">There’s no need to carry stress around. In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus is calling the weary and burdened to come to Him, offering rest. Here are 10 ways to get rid of unwanted stress:<br><br><b>1) Give it up to God.</b> Oftentimes, we “give it up” to God, only to take it right back as soon as things don’t go our way. Trust God enough to let Him be in <i>total control</i> of your life.<br><br><b>2) Smile. </b>Did you know it takes more muscles to frown than it does to smile? Frowning tenses up your muscles, leaving you feeling tired and sore. Take time to smile, laugh, and enjoy life!<br><br><b>3) Stop doing so much. </b>Don’t let your body go into overload. If there’s anything you don’t <i>need </i>to be doing, then don’t do it. Be aware of your time management.<br><br><b>4) Do not fear.</b> Fear can cripple your mind, causing you to make stupid choices. God will <i>always </i>be with you, so don’t worry so much. “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5b).<br><br><b>5) God is enough.</b> The darker it gets, the brighter He is. Even if your worst fear <i>does </i>come true, God is enough. He is everything you and I will ever need.<br><br><b>6) Sleep.</b> It’s important to get at least 8 hours of sleep every night, because surviving purely on coffee and adrenaline will leave you feeling more exhausted than energized.<br><br><b>7) Stay healthy!</b> Avoid eating too much sugar. It may give you a temporary rush of energy, but afterwards, it can wear you out. Eat healthy foods and exercise more. Getting oxygen to your brain helps you to stay positive and think clearly.<br><b><br>
8) It’s all in your attitude.</b> Pain is inevitable, but your attitude is a choice. You can view the situation as being negative, or as a positive struggle that will bring you closer to God. It’s up to you.<br><br><b>9) Relax!</b> Take time to re-energize. Read God’s Word and pray continually. Lay your concerns at the feet of Jesus.<br><br><b>10) Surround yourself with the Body of Christ. </b>Be real with people. Sometimes a long heart-to-heart can take a lot of stress off that you didn’t even know was there.</span><br>

To me, it's not only a holiday that celebrates mothers, but also celebrates godly women making an impact on the next generation of people. It's about being imitators of God and making a difference in this world.<br><br>
My mom is seriously the best. She's an example-setter, my teacher, my momager, and also my friend. She laughs with me. She cries with me. If I'm not doing something right, she tells me and shows me how to do better. She makes me laugh like all the time! She supports me with an unfailing love. She's an encourager. She challenges me. I love my mom with all my heart. I want to be just like her when I'm a mom. Spider Story

Today, while my mom was driving on the highway, she flicked a giant spider off of my dad's shoulder and it landed right on my knee. **Insert scream here.** Because I don't do so well with arachnids, I literally almost fainted. Finding Your Future in Jesus
<b><span style="font-size: medium;">Jeremiah 29:11-14a<br>
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord...</span></b><span style="font-size: medium;"><br><br>
God has great plans for <u>you</u>. Are you ready to walk in His will? Maybe you already know where God is leading you. Maybe you're not sure yet. No matter where you are in your spiritual journey, consider the following:<br><br>
1) Pray without ceasing. No matter what's going on, you need to communicate with the Creator. <b>"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).</b><br><br>
2) Read the Bible. Ask God to open your eyes to what He wants you to see and learn. You can read the same Bible verse twenty times, and get twenty different things out of it. Depending on what you're going through at the moment, God's Word can speak to you in varying ways. Isn't that cool? <b>"Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law." (Psalm 119:18).<br><br></b>3) Patience. Just because you want something now, doesn't mean you'll necessarily get it at this very moment. Remember, God's timing is better than our timing. He sees the bigger picture when we only see this moment. <b>"But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently." (Romans 8:25).</b><br><br>
4) Be willing to go <i>anywhere </i>to be used by Jesus. If we were to be honest, we all have a Nineveh, somewhere we don't want to go. No matter where God leads you in this life, follow His will and He will be with you every step of the way. <b>"Go to the great city of Nineveh and proclaim to it the message I give you." (Jonah 3:2).</b><br><br>
5) Be content with where God places you. God wants you where you are for a reason. Rejoice in that! For me as a singer/songwriter, I have learned that I need to be content whether God puts me on a big stage or a small stage. Whether I'm performing in a stadium of thousands of people, or singing some songs at a small coffee shop, I can still be used effectively. Be a blessing to the people around you! <b>"I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength." (Philippians 4:12-13).</b><br><br>
6) When God calls you to move, then move. You may think you know where God is leading, just to find He wants you to go a completely different direction. Ecclesiastes 3 says there is a season for everything. If you only remember one thing, let it be this: You can't put God in a box. He continues to surprise me everyday with His wondrous love! Ask God to bless you and that He would use you effectively to carry out His will. <b>"Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, 'Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.' And God granted his request." (1 Chronicles 4:10).</b><br><br>

Be Encouraging!
<span style="font-size: medium;">Be a blessing to someone today! Just a simple, random act of kindness can really encourage someone when they're feeling down. Not sure what to do? Here are some easy ideas:<br><br>
1) Leave a Bible verse on their desk. Nothing is as encouraging as God's Word. "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." (2 Timothy 3:16-17 NIV).<br>
2) Choose your</span><span style="font-size: medium;"> words carefully. Words have the power to build someone up or tear them down pretty easily. Choose to use your words to empower and edify. "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen." (Ephesians 4:29 NIV).<br>
3) Write a card. The upside to a hand-written note is that the person can pick it up and read it over and over again. It's a simple reminder that they are cared for and loved.<br>
4) Do something out of the ordinary. It's easy to get stuck in a rut, doing the same old things. Make time to do something different and exciting!<br>
5) Go on a picnic. Whether you pack up some sandwiches or bake your famous chocolate chip cookies, this sweet gesture lets that person know that you still care.<br>
6) Be creative. Incorporate their interests and hobbies.<br>
7) Be Christ to them. Give without expecting anything in return.<br><br>

A Pure Heart = True Beauty
<span style="font-size: medium;">2 Timothy 2:22 (NIV)<br>
Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.<br><br>
Far too many people have the wrong definition of beauty. You see, beauty isn't something you can see. It's not physical. As cliché as it sounds, beauty is only skin deep. A <i>pure heart</i> is what makes someone truly beautiful. Beauty is from the inside out.<br><br>
In all honesty, everyone struggles with self-worth at some point. Know that you are loved. God loves you. I love you. You are worth much more than silver or gold! If you have accepted Jesus as your personal Savior, then you are a child of the Heavenly King! Follow God and chase after His heart. He has so much planned for you if you are willing to follow Him. A pure heart = true beauty.</span><br type="_moz">

What Is Your Focus On?
<span style="font-size: medium;">Everybody has their focus on something. Is your focus purely on God and glorifying His name? Jonah 2:8 (NIV) says, "Those who cling to worthless idols turn away from God's love for them." God commands us to put NOTHING before Him. In this life, there will be a lot of distractions, but keep your eyes focused on our wonderful Savior. Fearless
<span style="font-size: medium;">Ephesians 6:19-20 (NIV)<br>
Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.<br><br>
I read these verses today and it really got me thinking. Paul mentions two times in the text about being fearless. Just how fearless are we about sharing our faith with others? I know that sometimes it can be really scary and intimidating, but witnessing about the great love of our Lord is worth it all. If you saw one of your friends drowning in a pool, wouldn't you stop and do all you could to rescue them? </span><span style="font-size: medium;">In the same way, our unsaved friends need to be rescued... by Jesus Christ! "Don't wait until it's too late." Be fearless for Jesus!</span><br>

Beauty in Honoring God
<span style="font-size: medium">1 Samuel 16:7 describes how man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart. How often do we judge people, purely based on the outward appearance?<br><br>
Don’t ever believe the lie that you’re aren’t pretty enough, or not thin enough. What people think doesn’t matter. What truly matters is what God thinks about you. He lovingly took the time to form your very being. In fact, you are his treasured masterpiece, and you are beautiful.<br><br>
Our purpose here on earth is not to blend in with the world, but to set ourselves apart. Be a shining light in a dark world. True beauty is living a life that honors and glorifies our Lord and Savior. We are called to worship the King.<br><br>

Do Not Fear

When I wrote the song <i>Do Not Fear</i>, it was based on Joshua 1:9. God is commanding us to not be afraid, yet worrying is such an easy thing to do. In fact, most of the things we worry about never even happen. If you have put your faith in Jesus Christ, then what is there to fear? Even death itself cannot win. Just give your fears and heartaches up to God, and let him be your strength when you are weak.<br><br>

Walking in God's Will
